A Year of Yes.

Shonda Rhimes snatched me by my wig and drug me up and down my own reality. Somehow she managed to talk about her own life, her own career, her own family, her own success and completely check me about my own. And for this, I am forever changed for the better. Year of Yes is all about growth and progression and challenging our own thinking to be able to change the way that we do life, from a personal perspective. It’s all about making ourselves uncomfortable in a non-harmful way to improve the lives that we are given.

My Year of Yes moment has had to be the start of this blog and utilizing my own passion to be able to start something that I love. As I have gotten older, I have become more focused on my quality of life and often find myself placing the highest priority on my own happiness. I am not really sure how I was doing life before, but I do know that I have never felt this empowered or this fearless. Saying “Yes” to myself, does not only mean that I am doing what is uncomfortable in order to alter my life, it also means that I am invested in loving myself in a way that I have never done before. My "Yes" this past weekend was heading to the beach after being invited by a close friend. I have been living in the Bay Area my whole life, and I have never actually had a beach day. It's insane to even imagine this because I love the water. Bay Area beaches are not the cleanest and the water is ice cold and murky, but they are still beautiful spaces to be in.

I do not want to live the rest of my days (however long or short they may be) just existing in a space when I know that I owe myself so much more. I do not want to look back on my life and say that I should have, could have, would have, when I know that right here, right now, in this very moment, I CAN.

Check this book out. You will not regret it. I will be beaching it a lot this upcoming summer.
