Cooking at Sur La Table

I love to cook because I love to eat. I can make quite a few dishes, both healthy and unhealthy, but have always wanted to broaden my range of cooking skills. Over the weekend I attended birthday festivities for one of my really close friends, Danielle. She is crazy in love with cooking shows and got the idea of having a group cooking class from watching the Food Network. We took a Vietnamese cooking class at Sur La Table in Walnut Creek.

On the menu was pork dumplings and lemongrass chicken stir-fry with sweet potatoes. Chef Sicily taught us knife techniques, measurements without measuring, using fresh ingredients, creating your own infused oil, etc. It was really good, but it made me want to invest in more kitchen appliances and tools.

Aside from this, it was a great activity to complete with a group of friends. It is rooted in teamwork, trust, and appreciation for each other...with a little food on the side.

Happy Birthday Danielle!
