My mom is a fashion icon in her own right. She has been serving looks since I can remember and doesn't give anything away. Whenever I am looking for a specific piece, she always manages to deliver. When I was younger, I would ask her why she didn't give more of her items away and she would always say "Girl, naw! That's gonna come back in style." And like clockwork, her pieces always do, but of course recreated with less care and less quality by the ever-changing and cheaply made fast producing fashion industry.
I needed a leather tam and I knew just where to find one. In her closet. With a little bit of convincing, I was able to score this vintage authentic leather tam. I used to call it her little "Eddie Murphy Hat" because that man loved some leather in the 80's and this style reminds me of the Golden Child era.
I paired it with a black turtleneck and skort (skirt in the front, leather-adjacent shorts in the back). Legs, legs, & more legs. The tall girl advantage. I don't know why I don't appreciate my stems the way that I should, but I plan to expose my kneecaps and thighs more this year. Ha!
