Last week, I visited Mockingbird in Oakland, CA during (I had no clue that this was going on) Restaurant Week in Oakland. I am one of those pesky people that fails to make restaurant reservations. I have to stop doing this, it's uncouth. Fortunately for me, they were able to accommodate my party.

Mockingbird is a small downtown Oakland restaurant in walking distance to public transportation and plenty of street parking. The decor is extremely modern and minimalistic which adds a nice touch to the overall ambiance. Their wait staff was extremely attentive and nice. I love good service. During the week they have Happy Hour with drinks and "small" bites. I had a margarita and the brussel sprouts to start, which were a full-size portion. They were nothing short of amazing topped with crumbled bleu cheese and blessings. I was basically stuffed by the time that I finished them (I ate the entire plate), but even that couldn't get in the way of the prize that my eyes were on. I also tried out the hangar steak with fries (delish) coupled with a bit of bone marrow.

I can't wait to visit Mockingbird again to try out more of their menu items.
